My Poetry

Most of these poems have to do with an online multiplayer roleplaying game I used to play called Nexus, Kingdom of the Winds. Therefore, they might not make a whole lot of sense to the uninitiated. If you never played Nexus, you won't know who the people are, what the situations are, or why any of this matters. Sorry.

For those of you who came here from Nexus, welcome! I hope you enjoy my poetry. It's a bit eclectic, but where else can you find poems about character sharing, Carnage, and my trusty old Bekyun's Spear? If you care, Bekyun's Tale, Honor's Price, Curse of the Nameless One, and Suddenly Strangers were all Poetry Revel winners. (HM, HM, 2nd and 1st respectively) One of these days, when I have time to dig through my old screenshot files, I'll add some illustrations.

Fair warning to those people who have bought into the idea that poetry is anything a poet says it is, and a poet is anyone who claims to be one: I don't agree with you. Not at all. Poetry is more than just "expressing yourself." A toddler having a tantrum is expressing himself very clearly, but that doesn't make it poetry. My role models in poetry are people like William Shakespeare, Rudyard Kipling, Robert Service, etc. So, beware: my poetry rhymes. Rhyme and meter have stood our civilization in good stead since the first ambitous apes learned how to talk, and I don't think discarding something that has worked well for thousands of years was really a good move.

I've also included some notes about the poems.
