Locations Around the Kingdoms

So soon here, and ye already seek to leave? Well, death visits all lands, and ye can meet him easily enough elsewhere, if you have need.

Buya and vicinity

Buya is beautiful. Even Ox, the Kugnae tavern NPC, thinks so. It is more rural in character than Kugnae, though its population is somewhat larger. It has a full assortment of shops, the homes of four of the Nexus clans, a very popular arena, and the lair of the infamous Sute. There is also access to the Wilderness, Vale, and Islets, and through there to the mantis forest.

The Arctic Village is a small, snow-covered town near the arctic ogre caves. In addition to its scenic beauty, it contains a number of shops, one of the etherial shrines, and a popular wedding chapel. To reach the Arctic Village, travel to the Arctic Land and go north once you leave the inn, staying to the right, which will take you past the ice ogre cave and into the village.

Sanhae is a small town near the arctic regions, currently a protectorate of Buya. It contains several crafting locations, as well as the only shop which buys yellow ambers. The easiest way to reach Sanhae is to travel to the Arctic Land, go south from the inn, then east and north up the trail to the Sanhae town gate.

Islets is, as its name suggests, an area of small islands east of Buya. It is beautiful and scenic, as well as having paths which conenct Buya, Koguryo, the Dae Shore, and Hamgyong Nam-Do. The popular hunting areas in the mantis forests are reached through the Islets as well.

Koguryo and nearby lands

Kugnae is the capital city of the kingdom of Koguryo. Bridges abound, for a river flows through the city and, in fact, many buildings are built on islands. It has the widest assortment of goods and services available in the kingdoms, as well as interesting historical sites. Three clans reside there. There is access to the Dae Shore, the Wilderness, and even Nagnang by way of Southern Koguryo.

Southern Koguryo is a rural area to the south of the city of Kugnae. It is the main land route to Nagnang. The Islets can also be reached via Southern Koguryo. The mysterious Strange Thing can sometimes be found in this area.

The Cemetery south of Kugnae is a peaceful place once again now that Kajang, the Bringer of Bones, and his skeletal followers are long gone. It is a pleasant place for a picnic, and perhaps to reflect on the glories of the past. Nine great crypts are the last resting places of ancient heroes.

The Dae Shore is the coastal land to the east of Kugnae. Many older residents remember the time the great Sea Beasts came ashore here, and were defeated by the assembled might of the kingdoms. To the north is the Nexus Museum, with exhibits from the past and present. The sites of the Sea Ring and Ice Beast quests are reached through here. Although it has few features of its own, the Dae Shore provides a connection to Hausson and the Islets. It is also popular for public gatherings.

Hausson is an island village off the coast of Koguryo. It is primarily of interest because it has the only crafting location for food preparation. The island is overrun with rats, which in turn have attracted a large population of snakes, and giant lobsters also wander ashore. Hausson can be reached by boat for a small fee.

Hamgyong Nam-Do is the home of the ogres, where they work their amber mines. Ogres from several different tribes live here. It is also the location of Ugh's shop, now tended by his friend Nogh, where Ogre Cider and Ogre Draughts can be purchased.

Nagnang

Nagnang opened its borders to the kingdoms of Buya and Kugnae, with mixed results. Prince Kija wanted trade and the free exchange of ideas, but cultural conflicts quickly led to a conflict of a more military nature. Despite this, the path tutors of Nagnang offer their special skills to those who can survive their harsh tests. It is also the home of the Forsaken Clan.

Other Areas

The Mythic Nexus is the locus of the links to the realms of the 12 mythic beasts of the Asian zodiac. It is the most popular hunting area in Nexus, and as a result it is also the area for doing business, making friends, and generally hanging out. It also has direct access to the Vale, for those who would rather hunt human prey.

KaMing's Encampment was once the home of the semi-nomadic Sonhi tribes. They expanded it into a small village, then mysteriously disappeared. It has been the site of much conflict, notably during the Zibong invasions and the wandering Minions at the time of the etherial temple, but now it is a peaceful place. It has several interesting shops and a few people still living in the empty town, perhaps waiting for the Sonhi to return.

The Vale is one of the largest areas in Nexus. Unlike most areas, it is an arena: player vs. player combat is possible, with no actual harm coming to the loser. It also contains two hunting caves, the NPC used for scribing and alchemy, many warps to unexpected places, and several features such as the Black Pit whose purpose is unknown.

The Wilderness is a very large area containing many crafting NPC's, resource-gathering areas, several hunting caves, and the famed Forever Tree. The neutral village, home to those people of no kingdom affiliation, is also part of the Wilderness. The Barbarian and Geomancer subpaths make their homes here.
