Karma Gain and Loss

Ye need to know what affects your karma, youngling? Chopping firewood and hauling water for an old woman is said to be a sure benefit.

This section will be expanded after some research into just how much karma is gained or lost by any of these means. Ones believe to be true but uncomfirmed are in italics.

Things that give karma:
  • Mentoring
  • Worshipping
  • Getting a bonus when selling experience
  • Winning a Poetry Revel
  • Winning an official story contest
  • Being paid as a Carnage host
  • Being paid as a Judge
  • Correctly answering the Wisdom Test
  • Doing the "By the Sea" newbie quest
  • Specializing in a craft skill
  • Completing a Mythic Alliance
  • Some I-Ching results
Things that take karma:
  • Being arrested for a crime
  • Doing the Star, Sun, or Moon Quests
  • Abandoning a subpath
  • Cleansing from the dog path
  • Adding a walker to a RP subpath
  • Elevating a subpath walker to guide
  • Granting some subpath friend marks
    (Geomancers for sure, possibly others)
  • Dismissing a member of a subpath
  • Pardoning a person for a crime (Chongun)
Things that do not take karma:
  • Killing a horse
  • Killing a cat
  • Hitting an NPC
  • Getting a negative branding by a subpath
